A Hands-On Puppet Play Experience for Kindy
Kids Puppet Play is a 30-40 minute hands-on puppet play experience designed for childcare and kindy groups (ages 3-5) in South-East Queensland.
Children are invited to explore, imagine and connect through gentle, playful puppet interactions. We play together with hand puppets, glove puppets, sock puppets, stick puppets, finger puppets, and string puppets.
This experience supports key aspects of children’s learning, aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework, by encouraging children to:
- Develop fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination as they manipulate different types of puppets.
- Strengthen gross motor skills through whole-body movement, reaching, balancing and expressive play.
- Use language and expression as they make puppets talk, act and interact.
- Build confidence and social skills through turn-taking and shared play.
- Explore creative thinking and storytelling, strengthening imagination and problem-solving.
- Connect with others in a group setting, fostering belonging and cooperation.
- Experiment with expressive movement and voice, enhancing communication and self-confidence.
Play is the central vehicle for learning in kindy – helping children grow in identity, communication, wellbeing, active engagement and confidence.
