About the Author
Elissa Jenkins wrote Marina’s Marine Adventure to celebrate the wonders of the ocean, marine life, and adventure. A passionate advocate for marine conservation with a Master of Arts in Social Science, Elissa believes that to inspire children to protect the sea and its creatures, we must first help them develop a love for the marine world.
She also wanted to help kids navigate those tricky moments when things don’t go to plan. The story gently explores how disappointment and “missing out” can still lead to joy, creativity, and connection — if you’re open to it.
Elissa is not only the author of the book, but also the puppeteer of Marina, a lovable three-year-old monster with a childlike sense of wonder and a playful, mischievous spirit. Now living by the sea with her co-puppeteer and husband Brett Hansen, Elissa regularly enjoys spotting boats, dugongs, dolphins, and fish.
