Performance of a Puppet Show:

Larrikin Puppets

With humour that can be enjoyed by toddlers to primary school kids, with plenty of laughs for the staff and teachers to enjoy too, this is a one of the fun vacation care activities on offer – A 30 minute puppet show of songs, games, jokes, skits and comical interaction with the audience. The style of puppetry is a bit like The Muppets and Sesame Street. The show is followed by an additional 5 minute presentation where Brett demonstrates to the audience how all the puppets work (including a bit of audience participation). Then there’s a 5-10 minute meet-and-greet were the kids can get their photo taken with Troggg the blue monster. In total it’s about a 45 minute performance.

Educational content – such as sharing, anti-bullying and healthy eating – can also be requested in your booking enquiry.

For something different – A Puppetry Performance Workshop:
Interactive hands on vacation care activities are always a special treat! Particularly given that there are a lot of older kids in Vacation Care and OSHC, perhaps you’d like to book a puppetry workshop instead of a puppet show. Learn the basic techniques that bring Muppet-style puppet characters to life in an interactive workshop led by Brett Hansen. No previous puppetry experience needed. Students will get a chance to practice puppetry techniques using real puppets.

In this practical workshop, we talk about the different types of puppetry, and then teach techniques used in the Jim Henson/Muppets style of puppetry, such as lip sync, eye focus, puppets talking to each other, walking and running the puppets, arm movements (waving, scratching, covering mouth, high fives, etc.), emotions/gestures, dancing to rhythms while lip syncing to vocals. There’s also an opportunity for students to perform and demonstrate to the class.
Cost includes time allowance for travel to and from, set-up and pack-up of the puppet stage, props, puppets and sound equipment. Full details on costs and how we run the workshops here: https://www.larrikinpuppets.com.au/vacation-care-oshc/
