About the books
Too Many Teddies by Glenn Martin:
A young elephant gets caught up in the excitement of buying too many teddy bears before realising that giving can be more rewarding than receiving.
Plato the Platypus Plumber (Part-Time) by Hazel Edwards:
About a platypus plumber who fixes leaking taps, but also fixes grumpy people using smile spray from his tool kit.
Hazel also wrote There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake.
Molly the Grey Kangaroo and the Bush Cleanup Crew by John Lewis Clark:
Uncle Barry Watson from The Family Place at Logan recommended this book to us as a wonderful book to read to kids – and we love it.
“See the bush from a contemporary Indigenous viewpoint. John Clark approaches a serious problem with a sense of humour. Share the fun of a picnic with a Koori family and help children think about littering.”
Gracie and Josh by Susanne Gervay:
Gracie and Josh is a joyous celebration of all kids, especially those with special needs, their siblings, family and community. It recognises the commonality of emotions, relationships, hope and family in all of us.
The book was endorsed by Variety, the children’s charity, helping children live life to the fullest.
During the show we will sing “Incy Wincy Spider” so be sure to practice the song with your kids in the lead up, so they can join in as well.
Rainbow Family Storytime – A Simple Fairytale and Susie’s Wish:
From the children’s picture book collection ‘We Can’t All Be The Same (and it would be boring if we were)’ by Glenn Martin.
A Simple Fairytale
Jose just wants to find his perfect man. He travels the world on a quest to find his true love. After finally finding someone special, a simple mistake could prevent Jose from ever seeing his special man again!
Susie’s Wish
Susie has a dream of swimming at the Olympics. She goes through a difficult journey and faces challenges, both in her competitions and in dealing with her gender identity.
Larrikin Puppets Rainbow Family Storytime Puppet Show is a colourful, fun and interactive presentation of puppetry and children’s stories for audiences 2-7 and their families who are part of, actively support or want to learn more about LGBTIQ communities. The show supports and encourages empathy, diversity, equality, acceptance and love.
Inclusive Family Storytime – The SuperAbles and A Tale Of Two Ponds:
From the children’s picture book collection ‘We Can’t All Be The Same (and it would be boring if we were)’ by Glenn Martin.
The SuperAbles
Local kids Henry and Holly team up together to help find the person responsible for stealing Mrs Bubble’s apple pies. Henry is in a wheelchair and Holly is without sight but that does not hinder their ability to catch the thief.
A Tale of Two Ponds
Benji is a fish and his pond is quickly drying up. He needs to find a new pond to call home! Unfortunately, not everyone is eager to welcome him!
