Learn the basic techniques that bring Muppet-style puppet characters to life in an interactive workshop led by Brett Hansen. A few fuzzy friends like Troggg, Frazzamatazz and Frizzby will join in the fun.
Larrikin Puppets often visit primary schools and high schools to run puppetry workshops for classes.
In 2016, we ran three workshops a day for five days at Belmont State School as part of their annual Literary Carnival. We also ran a very successful end-of-year puppetry workshop at Island Dance, Bribie Island for all their dancing and karate students.
But apart from being booked to visit schools, we do sometimes run independent workshops. These programs are for children and adults. No previous puppetry experience needed.
Students will get a chance to practice puppetry techniques using real puppets.

Brett was ‘puppetry consultant’ for both the 2012 and 2014 Brisbane Arts Theatre productions of Broadway’s Avenue Q.
He also assisted during puppet workshops for Little Shop of Horrors and Puppets vs. People (both also with the Brisbane Arts Theatre).
Brett trained a cast of nine improvisational theatre performers in puppetry for the Larrikin Puppets and Edge Improv co-production, Thank Troggg You’re Here: A Puppet Impro Spectacular! as well as the cast of ImproMafia’s Not 4 Kidz at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Brett was puppet trainer on the set of film project Cluck: The Web Series as well.
Brett has received formal puppetry training at the ‘Beyond The Sock‘ advanced intensive puppetry workshop at the University of North Texas under Marty Robinson (The Jim Henson Company, Sesame Street; performer of Telly Monster and Mr. Snuffleupagus) and Noel MacNeal (Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House; performer of Bear), with puppet construction training from Pasha Romanowski (Project Puppet, The Moe Show).
Brett and Elissa have also trained and rehearsed at ‘The Puppet Kitchen‘ in Manhattan, New York under Michael Schupbach (Sesame Street, The Jim Henson Company).
